All patients are required to have a referral from a medical provider prior to being seen by a registered dietitian, regardless of whether a patient has commercial insurance or will be self-paying for Medical Nutrition Therapy sessions. Medicare and Medicare Advantage referrals require specifically MD or DO to refer a patient.
